We are the most authoritative and comprehensive body for the most accurate and detailed source of Drake information. This has evolved since 1980, when Michael Turner began travelling the world to document pictorially Drake's world. This has produced the first pictorial topographical Drake biography of 315,000 words, and a 11,000 slide archive. The original members have a complete set of the Drake voyage maps, along with those of Drake's Island and Drake's Leat. Susan Jackson owns the largest collection of Drake books in private hands. Since 1983 Raymond Aker of the Drake Navigators Guild, California, kindly allowed Michael access to his unique, practical based nautical Drake research.

Two weeks Drake jungle trekking by foot and horse and coastal boating trips in Panamá every February. Diving at Portobelo is an option for qualified divers. Itinerary and approximate prices on request. 9 members per tour. The Cape Verde Islands provide another fascinating destination.
We could stage a bi-annual Drake weekend convention in the Plymouth area. Accommodation at Boringdon Hall Hotel, would be ideal since Drake visited this building. There would be many of the lesser-known Drake sites to visit that are within reach. An illustrated Drake lecture would follow the evening meals.
Annual membership is GBP 15.00 for residents in the United Kingdom. Overseas subscription is GBP 16.00 for which, payment is by a sterling cheque or cash, payable to Michael Turner. Back issues cost GBP 5.00 to members and GBP 7.00 to non-members.
Upon joining, you will receive a copy of the Society Prospectus, a complete bibliography of the primary sources, along with the main secondary sources; a dossier outlining the topographical discoveries of Drake's unidentified anchorages and access to research information. The society will also dispatch the current fileable A4 sized colour, computerised booklet, The Drake Broadside, detailing advances in research; unique statements of knowledge, book reviews, the opinions and experiences of other Drake scholars and travellers. Therefore, individual contributions are welcome. Members may wish to join some of the founding members in Drake travel days in England, Ireland and the near continent. Overseas expeditions are offered and will generate illustrated lectures. All enquiries must be accompanied by an s.a.e. or preferably by e-mail. Please remember that membership renewal falls every February. The Drake Broadside is circulated in January and the Newsletter is dispatched in June.
